After graduating from the Trinity College of Music in London, England, Chin obtained an Associated Teacher's Diploma, Licentiate Teacher's Diploma, and a Bachelor of Music Diploma from Capilano University. She went on to graduate from Yamaha Teacher's Training Course, the Grade 5 Yamaha Piano Performance, and Piano Teaching, and became a member of the British Columbia Registered Music Teachers' Association, proudly having played music for over 30 years.
Chin majors in piano playing, having worked with a variety of students of all ages and levels. She looks to use her strength of tailoring music lessons to each student's ability, and motivates each student with compassion and directed inspiration. She is also fluent in English, Mandarin and Hokkien, providing students the option of learning in their first language, as well as relating to their specific needs.
I enjoy teaching music because music marks many perspectives, and it teaches us different ways to interpret the world.
Chin's has a particular appreciation for classical music. She enjoys playing Chaconne, Busoni's transcription of the Chaconne from J.S. Bach's Partita No. II for unaccompanied Violin. And while she adores Beethoven's piano Sonatas, her favourite pieces are by Chopin. Jazz artists such as Christopher Norton and Twilight Techno also have a special place in her heart.
While Chin is not teaching at the school, she enjoys playing and performing her talents, jogging, travelling and driving with family.

"Over the years, LVM has provided nothing but friendly, reliable, and courteous service. And the quality of instruction has been impeccable! Dmitri Gritsaenko is able to communicate his exceptional knowledge and expertise in the kind of creative and receptive terms that constantly evolve to accommodate his students' developing needs. I would not hesitate to recommend LVM to any aspiring musician who is serious about legitimate learning in a positive, professional environment."
"I would absolutely recommend Lynn Valley Music to anyone interested in learning how to play an instrument or expanding their musical skills. I took lessons to learn how to establish a richer sound with my flute and play more in tune, and my flute teacher helped me accomplish just that. She was extremely supportive and I really enjoyed hearing my playing improve with every one of her suggestions."
"Dmitri’s sense of humor, his ability to get ideas across to any student and his encouragement made the lessons really enjoyable and informative. Even my dad ended up taking lessons with him, and he would always come home with a new riff to try out, impressed with Dmitri’s ability to play and to teach. Lynn Valley Music has passionate teachers with excellent teaching ability, making it the best choice for a music school on the North Shore."
"I have been taking piano lessons at Lynn Valley Music for 5 months now and it has been such a positive experience. Dmitri is a very insightful and patient teacher who is extremely dedicated and helpful. He is always pushing me to be better and his teaching skills encourage and inspire me to do the best. I came to Lynn Valley Music to learn to play the piano; every week I improve my skills and learn something new. Thank you Dmitri and Lynn Valley Music!"
"Roxana is very kind to me. She is very patient. She never gives up. We have fun when we play songs together. She is nice. I am glad she is my piano and violin teacher!"
Anika, age 9, taking lessons since she was 5.
"Roxana is patient and gentle with the kids. She is friendly, she is very
encouraging; the kids always enjoy their lessons (practice at home is a
different story). She has done a great job teaching them their instruments.
She communicates well with me to tell me what the kids are working on, too."
Gerry, father of 2 music students.
"Chin has been my teacher for over 10 years and she still continues to be. She is patient, thoughtful, and passionate with her teaching, and her philosophy is sensible and thorough. To this day I still find it a treat to see her play my new music within a matter of seconds of looking at it. I've become a teacher myself in a volunteer program and I could not have earned myself such experience without the guidance of Chin."
